Following the grand opening of the new state of the art multi-storey car park, Fareham Shopping Centre today reopened West Passage and its newly refurbished toilet facilities to the public.

The West Passage, located in Westbury Mall next to Clinton Cards, is now home to beautiful new Ladies, Gents, Disabled and Baby Changing facilities. The sloping ramp access to the new loos makes them ideal for those with mobility difficulties and allows all shoppers easy access to Fareham Health Centre, Jobcentre Plus and Fareham Borough Council's Civic Offices - and, of course, the other way around.

Centre Director, Pam Marsden, said: "We're delighted... Fareham Shopping Centre now boasts two toilet facility areas, designed to further enhance shoppers' visiting experiences. Customers will have a choice of toilet facilities both inside and outside that are easily accessible wherever they are within the Centre..."

Gill Radford, one of Fareham Health Centre's Practice Managers, said: "With the Health Centre being home to two doctors' practices, the opening of Fareham Shopping Centre's West Passage is great news for patients."

West Passage was closed when work started on building the new development and car park in early 2008.

I was lucky enough to meet the first ever visitor to West Passage's new loos, Author and Publisher, retired Navy Lieutenant Commander, Leonard G Foot.

"I've been waiting for these toilets to open for ages," he told me, "I'm absolutely desperate!"

Have you used the new loos yet?
