I live in Fareham and I know how difficult the summer holidays can be with young children as I have three of them. So I plan to keep the site informed about things to do with the kiddies this summer.

The Hampshire and Fareham 2011 Summer Reading Challenge has a circus theme – Circus Stars. More in keeping with the new generation of circuses and performance arts than the old-fashioned Big Top circus, Fareham Library is encouraging children to keep reading throughout the school holidays with their new challenge. Story books, information books and audio books all count towards the goal and every child who signs up to the challenge will receive a 3D circus stage to build, with stickers to collect along the way. Those who complete the challenge will also get a medal and a certificate.
…and better yet, it's all FREE!
Did you know you can register your child at the Library as soon as they are born? The number and type of items you can borrow may vary according to which library you use, but no charge will be made for accidental damage to books used with a child under five years of age.
Computers are free to use in the library too so you can search the internet for information while you child picks his / her books.
Of course we hope the weather will be beautifully warm and dry this summer – but on the occasional rainy day it makes very good sense to pop down to the Library rather than stick on a DVD.
In case you don't know Fareham Library is in Osborn Road opposite the multi-story entrance to the Shopping Centre. It is closed on Sundays but open every other day:
Mon 9.30am-7pm
Tue 9.30am-5pm
Wed 9.30am-5pm
Thu 9.30am-7pm
Fri 9.30am-7pm
Sat 9.30am-4pm
The Circus Stars reading challenge will run until 11th September.
