Meet some local Olympic personalities this weekend 23/24th July 2011 in Fareham's Tour of the Town!

Local Olympic hopefuls Daniel Faulkner and Jocelyn Hunt will be joined by past competitors Kim Minnett and Peter Hull as part of Fareham's Tour of the Town this weekend. Along with many other sportsmen and women the four Olympic personalities will be ready to meet families taking part in the Council's event to mark the start of the countdown to the London 2012 Olympic Games.

"I am delighted that we're being joined by local Olympic sporting personalities, past and present," said Councillor Connie Hockley.

From 11am until 2pm this Saturday and Sunday we are invited to walk around the town centre to various 'stamp' points where special activities will be taking place:

Fareham Leisure Centre will have lots of free activities including health checks, Kidicarts and various dance and sporting taster sessions; Westbury Museum will be launching a new football exhibition 'A Game of Two Halves'; Ferneham Hall will be hosting Fareham's Play Service where young people can make Olympic torches and flags, and (weather permitting) you'll be able to sit on the grass, have a picnic, and watch a friendly game of cricket on Bath Lane Recreation Ground.

'Tour of the Town' has been organised by Fareham Borough Council in partnership with Fareham Leisure Centre, Ferneham Hall, Westbury Manor Museum, and Fareham and Crofton Cricket Club. It is an Official Open Weekend event open to everyone - in fact I shall be there on Sunday with my camera - come and say hi!
