Here are Sgt Aaron Freemantle's Top Tips for staying safe and reducing your risk of crime in Fareham this month.

It's summer (hurrah!) and it's warm if a bit damp. But most of us are happier and more relaxed in the summer, spending more time out of doors, with long walks or bike rides and picnics becoming a pleasant possibility. With this in mind Aaron's first recommendation is to enjoy open spaces responsibly.

"Fareham has been designated an alcohol-free zone which means that no-one is permitted to consume alcohol in public. Please drink responsibly and in the comfort of your own homes/gardens or pubs!!"

This means no PIMMS in the park, people.

Have you seen any examples of people being the worse for drink in public? Or any underage drinkers lately? You can hear Hampshire Constabulary's Plodcast on underage drinking here.

Cycle theft is always rife in the summer. Did you know that your local safer neighbourhood teams can security mark your bike? You can contact them to arrange for an officer to do this for you free of charge. "Remember to cycle only on the road or on designated cycle paths and always wear a safety helmet," reminds Aaron.

And finally Hampshire Constabulary has started its anti-social behaviour campaign for the summer ahead. "Those committing acts of anti-social behaviour will be targeted robustly," Aaron told me. "If you experience any form of anti-social behaviour, contact the 101 number, or alternatively, 0845 0454545."

Have a safe and pleasant July everyone.
