Dear Mr/Ms Fareham Police Officer:

Surely, If the sounds of sirens in Fareham
-
Are Fareham's Police Sirens An Issue?
directly correlated with the borough’s crime rate, we’d all be scared to leave
our homes!
Between 8am and 9pm it seems to be a constant wail of siren
after siren.
Surely sirens should be an absolute last resort…? But, given our pretty good crime statistics
by comparison to other areas, they must be “chasing” the wrong people!
That said, is it a double-edged sword? If there were no sirens, would we feel less
protected? The question is, do you feel
more protected just because of their presence, or do you just get naffed off?
Seriously though, it must make a lot of people feel on edge
imagining all sorts going on – and it certainly does nothing for the town’s
image. I remember reading a local newspaper
article when I was younger and the journalist referred to us as “Scareham”. Having, at that time, just moved here from
Greater Manchester the thought that anything more frightening than the clown in
the museum window might exist here was just laughable.
Either our crime stats are very, very wrong – or the police
must spend an awful lot of their time in the wrong. Better to be safe than sorry? Yeah. I
guess we’re all good kids when it comes to not fully understanding the jobs
other people do – but you still can’t help but wonder…

Maybe they have their breaks between 8-9pm? They are in a rush to get back for their coffee.
