Norway, Celebrity Deaths and Economic Crises - does the News make you want to "pull the plug"?

Hardly a day goes by without another 'thunderclap' to the senses by way of 'bad news'. The past week has seen media 'professionals' lose jobs, the death of a 'seminal icon', and the atrocity in Norway. It is little wonder that some of the general population are walking around somewhat numbed by it all - there just seems to be no respite to the daily invasion of our lives by yet another 'catastrophe'. The sensationalism of it all has been lost somewhere in the mire of oversensory exposure to it all and we now swallow quite hard as we reel in the latest over-publicised body-blow.
The news from Norway will be the biggest blow to most people - or will it? Does the sad demise of a global 'artiste' overshadow the 'mere' atrocity' of 91 deaths?
Norway is just another sad indictment of a world that is still beset with the archaic divisions that are borne of religion. Until the world addresses the 'identity' systems that divide the human race - wealth, politics, race, religion and gender - this will continue to occur, on smaller and greater levels. Belief systems have to change, before people can.
Amy - I'm sorry - we all failed you. RIP.
