Students from colleges

all round the Portsmouth and Fareham area were given an opportunity to showcase

their artistic talents in an exhibition named ‘New Creatives’ set up by

Portsmouth University.

This is the second year that the New Creatives

exhibit has been run, and this year’s theme was ‘Legacy’.  There were many interesting takes on this,

with people using the word in many forms. 7 students from Fareham college had

work featured in the exhibit, along with 43 other groups from South Downs College,

Highbury College, St Vincent College, College and Havant College. The pieces range

from photographs to 3D sculptures.

The overall reaction from

visitors was incredibly positive, with people commenting on how creative and talented

all the students involved were. This will hopefully become a regular event,

allowing young people to showcase their creative flair, an important opportunity

for students not only planning on developing through art based careers but for

other creative subjects as well.

The exhibit is running

from the 17th January through to the 11th February,

Monday to Friday from 10am – 4pm in the SPACE and Eldon Gallery in Portsmouth.

It is open to the public in these times and is free to view.

I'm pretty sure it's just sculpted, it's very clever though. It's a piece by a Highbury Student.
