Do you live near Fareham Library or a Hampshire County

Council library?  Do you have a child aged

between eighteen and twenty four months?

Then please don’t forget to collect your free bag of books with the Bookstart+

scheme!

The Council estimate that only

eight out of ten parents have collected this great freebie and are encouraging

more to come forward.  The bag itself is

similar to a school book bag and contains two books, colouring materials, a

numbers frieze and a £1 book token.

The scheme itself is being adopted by councils and health

authorities across the country.  Bookstart+

is organised by Booktrust - an independent charity.  It’s largely funded by the department of

education but is also subsidised by a number of publishing companies and booksellers.

The aim is to encourage children to be

interested in books from an early age as well as encouraging quality time

between parent and child.
