Our very own Fareham Town FC are one step closer to Wembley with their 3-1 win over Clanfield85 on Saturday. As Splodge explains here, the club needed to win this important stage of their FA Cup trail. This win, part of the Extra Preliminary Round, sees them safely through to the next stage. The FA Cup is made up of fourteen rounds.

FA Cup - Can Fareham Town FC Get Their Hands On It
Clubs who are lesser ranked battle it out through the Extra Preliminary Round, the Preliminary Round and then that’s followed by the First Qualifying Round.
Formed in 1946 Fareham Town FC made it to the FA Cup semi-finals back in the 1986/1987 season! The very fact that these smaller clubs don’t have the same money as top flight clubs - but they do have the same chance to play for the same cup - is what makes the FA Cup such a special competition.
Fareham town is a great local club bringing kids up through the ranks and even in the past producing players such as Dave Leworthy and Mark Chamberlain who went on to play for Spurs and Sheffield Wednesday respectively.
Their next cup match will take place on August 28th in Bristol, where they face Bitton who play in the Western League Premier Division. FarehamPeople wish them all the luck in the world!
