National? Not quite

What is it with national events that aren't 'really' national?

The example I'll give is National Schools Film Week.  This is a great idea, though I would say this being a film maker myself and somebody who runs film festivals both locally and in Glastonbury.  However, if you take a look at the official website, www.nsfw.org, you will notice something that is glaringly obvious - every venue is in London.

How is this 'national'?

I'm sure that there are plrnty of people around the country who would be willing to put their time into something like this.

I called Henry Cort yesterday to see if there was anything I could do to help, but was informaed that they knew nothing about it.  They did, however, say that they would send an email to everybody asking if they are either doing something, or wanting to do something with our support.

I've not heard anything back yet regarding this.

This is as bad as the Basebal World Series including only American teams, so we know which country is likely to win.

Do you want your local school to do something for this?  We are happy to work with any Fareham school and our charges are  very good - we will do it for free.  We would even be willing to work with schools, doing a talk on what is involved in making a film.

What is everybody elses thoughts on this?

It would be good to be able to organise our own event through the official site.
