Al Murray, Pub Landlord, To Play Small Fareham Venue!

A recent review, on this site, of the facilities at Fareham’s

Ashcroft Arts Centre (thanks for that, farehamite!) reminded me of a poster I

saw the other day.  I was never much of a

fan of Al Murray’s TV chat show and it took my brother to sit me down and subject

me to a DVD of his stand-up to realise he is actually a very funny bloke.  If being permanently politically correct is

one of your life’s goals, you should avoid Al Murray at all costs – his material

isn’t overtly racist but it is pro-British and that coupled with his overall appearance

does give him a sort of BNP air somehow.

But if you can get past that (and when you look at the multi-cultural

audiences at his stand-up gigs, you can see many do!) and laugh at jokes just

because they are actually funny, then Al is great entertainment.

The gig I saw him play was one in some massive, London venue

so you can imagine my surprise that on September the 15th this year,

Al is playing Fareham’s Ashcroft Arts Centre.

Not only that but tickets only cost a tenner – over half the cost being

charged at most of the other venues he’s playing!  I am going to book this one now because I

reckon it will be sold out real quickly!
