Fareham Students Get their A Level Results

Tomorrow Fareham’s sixth formers and college students will get their A Level results – having researched various advice articles it would seem that the key advice is this:
-
A Level Results For Fareham Students
-
A Poignant Plea As Fareham Students Get Their A Level Results
When you go to collect your results it’s a good idea to take the following with you:
Pen and paper
UCAS letter with your UCAS number and conditional grades on it
A calculator (just in case you have to add up module results)
AS Results if applicable
The contact details for both any firm and insurance offers
A copy of your personal statement
The contact details of your referee
So what next?
Well, if your grades meet your firm offer conditions… well done! But don’t sit at home all day refreshing the UCAS Track page, panicking. As you can imagine they have a lot of work on! If it hasn’t been updated after the weekend, call the university to check if everything’s okay.
Once you get your AS12 letter (sent out the day after UCAS Track updates your status), you know you’re on your way! Read it carefully though… some need you to reply but not all. And hang onto that letter – you’ll need it as proof when you open your student bank account.
But what happens if you didn’t get your firm place? Aside from pointing out that it’s not all that far from the college to The Harvester, for a stiff drink, all hope is not lost. Grab a copy of the Independent Newspaper (the only one to list all the clearance places) and don’t forget to keep an eye on your UCUS Track status. If your offer is not firmly retracted after the weekend then call the university to see if they will still accept you… some do! Sell yourself to them – point out any mitigating circumstances, good AS Grades etc. A real desire to study at that uni goes a long way!
Just remember that all hope is rarely lost if the situation is bad. It is unlikely that you won’t get the right advice from your school or college but there are two other organisations in town that can help out in a more anonymous sense. Catch 22 is a charity that counsels young people in all sorts of difficult situations and Connexions is a not-for-profit advice service for those aged 19 and under.
Lastly, PARTY! Fareham’s Chicago Rock Café is having a special A Level Results Night – two drinks for the price of one all night, DJ and open until 1am. £5 entry which includes two free drinks (four if you make use of the drinks deal), cloakroom and decorated party area!

Quite! Oh to be that age again! I remember my first tutor group at uni and everyone introducing themselves and explaining how they got there etc. I was amazed to discover that I was the ONLY PERSON on my course who had not got in through clearance! I had no idea why until I had a look round Hull :D
