Heavy snow in Fareham doesn't happen

very often but when it does we seem to be painfully ill prepared. Last winter saw the closure of Fareham
shopping centre, almost every single educational establishment and if you had
to get to or from a hospital you more than likely found yourself amidst chaos.
It was also a time when social networking became a dirty
phrase and parents’ brains turned to mush.
School closures were bountiful last winter and my sister’s teenage son (Henry
Cort) had at least a week off school!
But the official closures aside, many schools dropped attendance figures
through Facebook, no less. Think about
it – one kid posts that his or her school is closed the following day and
within minutes it’s gone viral. For
whatever odd reason a lot of parents were saying, “oh, okay, fine.”
Are you mad, parents?
Facebook is great for social networking, not so great for factual
news!!!
If you know of a school closure, suspect one or are not sure
then please post it here. For your peace
of mind this winter, Farehampeople will contact all schools mentioned and
verify that closure. In the unlikely
event that we’re unable to verify it we will let you know.
We’re not telling you not to trust your kids, we’re just
pointing out that because two hundred of them say it’s so on Facebook, does not
the facts of the matter make.

sorry i haven't updated this. am on the nightshift this week - properly sucked and had to walk the bike most of the way home due to gathered slush. luckily in most places it was quiet enough to risk cycling mid-road but i wouldn't recommend that!
it's the usual suspects people - Henry Cort, Cams, Neville Lovett - see here for more info http://tinyurl.com/2cd25ju
i'm reliably informed (as informed as you can be when it comes to the great british weather, that we've had the worst of it but if anyone needs a school closure verifying please ask!
